Local Government NZ used our keypad voting system to allow delegates to cast their weighted votes live at their 2021 AGM in Blenheim
The Brief
In 2020 the team at LGNZ approached AudienceAlive for an online solution for their members to vote live on resolutions at their 2020 AGM. With the impact of Covid19 members were unable to attend their AGM in person and it was decided to move the event online using Zoom videoconferencing. Following a successful AGM the team then requested that we provide the same solution at the 2021 AGM but using our Radio Frequency Keypads. The challenge was that different members had different voting weightages and these needs to be reflected in any live vote.  Â
The Solution
Audience Alive supplied a customised voting system using keypads which also combined the voting weights of each member. During the meeting the members voted live on a range of remits using the supplied keypads uniquely programmed for each local council. Each weighted vote from the members was sent to AudienceAlive’s voting computer, cross-referenced against the weightage allocation, tabulated and then shared live to all members via the two large screens. This process took just a matter of seconds for each vote.Â
Lots of planning went into the smooth running of this AGM. The software was customised to meet the requirements of the LGNZ returning officer and AudienceAlive provided a full set of reports on the voting immediately after the AGM.   Â

The Verdict:
The team at LGNZ were very happy with how it turned out.
The system allowed for instant changes to remits during the event as some councils suggested amendments.Â
They found that the system worked well and provided a full set of reports detailing the voting results with the weightages.Â
